6 HOT TRENDS FROM PARIS FASHION WEEK SO FAR
With only 2 days to go until the fashion circus comes to an
end we look at the 6 key trends that have emerged from the Paris runways
The great and the good are in Paris for the final round of
shows.
Paris Fashion Week does good FROW and with everyone from
Jessica Alba and Diane Kruger at Valentino to Kim Kardashian at Balenciaga and
Givenchy - the message was clear: Everyone loves Paris.
Although admittedly Kim's love for the city of romance may
have faded a little since robbers dressed as police officers stole millions of
pounds of jewellery .
Out of hours Kourtney and Kendall partied up a storm whilst
on the runway model of the moment Gigi Hadid reigned supreme.
But with the fashion pack waving au revoir to Paris on
Wednesday, what have we learned? From one shoulder dresses to the shock of the
new sheer, here are 6 of the key emerging trends.
PREPARE TO BARE
It was impossible to avoid the shock of the sheer during
Paris Fashion Week. Transparent fabrics reigned supreme.
The Kendall/Kardashian clan may have freed the nipple but
Paris went one step further by banning the bra. Models at Saint Laurent wore
braless sheer tops and there was even a mono boob dress that exposed one
breast. Not for the feint hearted these fabrics leave little or nothing to the
imagination.
It's all about giving fashion one cold shoulder
Designers continued to give fashion the cold shoulder with a
strong 80s influence coming through for SS/17. For an update however designers
favoured baring just one shoulder, giving a modern twist to a look that we
already know and love. Mugler, Marant and Yamamoto were the trail blazers here.
Paris served up catwalk fashion with frills a plenty with
feminine flounces and statement sleeves adorning collections by Andrew GN,
Isabel Marant, Dries Van Noten and Lanvin to name but a few. We loved the way
high neck frilly shirts were teamed with cargo pants at Dries Van Noten, one
look we can all pull off next Spring.
Get ready to think pink
Pink was the stand out colour on the Paris catwalks so
prepare to make the boys wink next summer. Fashion forerunners Balenciaga,
Valentino and Celine all showed hues from shocking to Schiaparelli that are
sure to filter down onto the high street next season.
It's time to get back on your high heels
Just when you thought you were safe in your low comfortable
heels it’s time to think again. You know those loafers your feet have been
hiding in, well it’s time for a serious re-think. Comfort was far from
designers minds, especially at Chloe where models tettered down the runway in 8
cm heels. Blisters plasters at the ready.
Prepare to shine on
A shiny patent coat should be top of your greedy want list
for Spring. No one did it better than Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent,
who’s sleek version was one of the stand out pieces from his debut show. If you
want to get in on the act early we recommend Alexa Chung’s patent mac that is
part of her new #ArchivebyAlexa Collection for M&S and is due in store next
month. Ms Chung kindly modelled and previewed the £89 coat for us on the FROW
during LFW
