A lot’s changed for Kanye West during the past
five years. He’s gotten married, had a daughter
(and has a son on the way), created his own
fashion line, announced his presidential
aspirations and consistently kept the world on its
toes by becoming an increasingly unpredictable
artist.
While so much of the attention surrounding
Kanye’s music is focused on the future —
namely, his hopefully soon-to-come album SWISH
— it’s still fun to look back on the many
iterations of his career. On Friday (Nov. 20), his
critically acclaimed fifth album, My Beautiful Dark
Twisted Fantasy, turns five years old. It’s a
grandiose effort that gave us some of ‘Ye’s best
work to date (“Power” and “Runaway,” for
instance), and it also continued his penchant for
recruiting some seriously stellar collaborators.
