Wiz Khalifa Suing Former Manager & Record Label
Wiz Khalifa is suing his former manager, Benjy Grinberg, and Rostrum Records for forcing him into an unfavorable "360 deal.
According to reports, in 2004 when Wiz was only 16, Benjy signed him to his label, Rostrum Records. Grinberg was dropped as the rappers manager back in 2014, but the record deal is still a “360 deal.” Wiz and his lawyers are now claiming that the deal was initiated against his best interests by Grinberg.
Wiz filed the lawsuit against Grinberg and the label yesterday (May 31) with hopes that he will be able to leave the contract. According to Variety, Wiz claims both Grinberg and Rostrum were, “faithless fiduciaries in direct contravention of their obligations to him.” His goal is to escape the contract and receive $1 million, punitive damages and lawyer fees from Grinberg and Rostrum
Grinberg responded to the lawsuit by saying he was, “very disappointed and surprised To witness an artist turn on you after supporting them for a number of years is very disheartening. This is an egregious lawsuit filled with inaccuracies, yet unfortunately people sometimes resort to these practices as a way of conducting business.
